The Pixel series investigates the visual and conceptual disjunction between digital representation and physical form. In the digital realm, seemingly smooth surfaces are in fact constructed from discrete units—pixels—that collectively generate the illusion of continuity. Prince translates this principle into sculptural language, taking the fluid, undulating topologies characteristic of his practice and fragmenting them into pixelated arrays. The resulting works disrupt the expectation of seamlessness, revealing the underlying structures that shape perception. By transposing a digital logic into material form, the series explores the tension between smoothness and segmentation, illusion and construction, challenging the viewer’s assumptions about surface, form, and the nature of visual coherence.
